SS400 hot rolled is a common hot-rolled structural steel specified in the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS G 3101). It is a very common and widely used carbon steel in China, Japan, and throughout East and Southeast Asia.

SS “stands for Steel Structure, and the following” 400 “indicates that the minimum tensile strength of the steel is above 400 MPa.

SS400 and Q235B are “brother” materials with extremely similar performance. SS400 has slightly higher strength indicators than Q235B, but is often regarded as a replaceable material in practical engineering material selection.

Application field of SS400 Hot Rolled Steel

SS400 is a versatile “basic” steel widely used in various structures and components that do not require extremely high strength:

Building structure: steel frame, beams, columns, roof trusses, etc. of the factory building.

Mechanical equipment: non core load-bearing components such as equipment racks, casings, brackets, pads, gears, couplings, etc.

Vehicle manufacturing: truck beams, chassis parts, cabin panels, etc.

Container manufacturing: Side panels and structural components of containers.

Hardware products: various universal hardware components, brackets, etc.

Bridges and ships: some auxiliary structural components.
