Stainless Steel 304L<\/a> (American ASTM standard grade, corresponding to Chinese grade 022Cr19Ni10) is a low-carbon version of 304 stainless steel and is one of the most commonly used and economical grades in the austenitic stainless steel<\/a> family. The “L” in its name stands for “Low Carbon,” which is the most fundamental difference between it and standard 304 stainless steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply put, 304L=304 (good corrosion resistance+excellent processability)+”L” (low carbon=better welding performance).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important note:<\/strong> Although 304L is more resistant to intergranular corrosion than 304, its resistance to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking caused by chloride ions has not improved. In chlorine containing environments, 316\/316L containing molybdenum should be selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
