I. Project Overview: A Customer’s Third Order in 2026<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In July 2026, a Beirut-based steel distributor placed their third order with Wanzhi Steel: 297 tons of RAL 9002 PPGI color coated steel coil<\/a><\/strong>, specified at 0.6 mm thickness, 600 mm width, JIS G3312 SGCC grade<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d already shipped this customer twice in 2026. First a 255-ton RAL 9003 PPGI coil batch<\/span><\/a>, then a 320-ton mixed order of RAL 9003 PPGI coil and galvanized steel pipe<\/span><\/a>. So this third order wasn’t a trial run. It was a returning buyer coming back for more, and asking for a different color this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The color switch is the interesting part. Moving from RAL 9003 (Signal White) to RAL 9002 (Grey White) usually means the distributor is serving a new kind of project or a new end customer. They could have spread those orders across several mills. They kept coming back to us instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III. RAL 9002 Grey White: Why This Color, Not Just How It Looks<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

3.1 What Is RAL 9002?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

RAL 9002 is listed as Grey White<\/strong> in the RAL Classic system. RAL 9003 (Signal White) is the bright, crisp one; RAL 9002 leans slightly grey, closer to what people call off-white. That grey tint isn’t a flaw. On a building facade it hides dust and weathering better than pure white, which is why distributors in dusty climates tend to prefer it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.2 Why a Lebanese Distributor Chose RAL 9002 Over RAL 9003<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the Lebanese market, a fine mineral dust settles on exterior surfaces and never really goes away. RAL 9002 keeps buildings looking clean longer between washes, which matters for residential roofing and warehouse wall panels around Beirut and Mount Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.3 RAL 9002 in Appliance Manufacturing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

RAL 9002 is also a common pick for home appliance steel shells<\/strong> \u2014 refrigerator and washing machine bodies, air conditioner housings, microwave panels. That this customer switched to it suggests they may be moving into appliance-grade steel, which pays better than standard construction PPGI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IV. 0.6 mm \u00d7 600 mm: Why These Numbers<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

4.1 Why 0.6 mm Thickness?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The previous two orders ran at 0.45 mm and 0.48 mm. This one steps up to 0.6 mm<\/strong>, roughly a third thicker. That change tracks directly to what the coil gets used for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 0.6 mm, the coil is thick enough for roll-forming into load-bearing roofing profiles<\/strong> \u2014 such as trapezoidal sheets with 35\u201345 mm rib height \u2014 without oil-canning or deflection under foot traffic during installation. It also provides sufficient rigidity for appliance panel stamping<\/strong>, where the steel must hold flatness through die-cutting and bending without edge waviness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.2 Why 600 mm Width?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Standard PPGI widths run from 600 mm to 1250 mm. This customer’s earlier orders were 730, 810, and 1145 mm. Going down to 600 mm, the narrowest standard width, was a deliberate move, not a leftover spec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Appliance panel production<\/strong>: Home appliance steel shells often require narrow coil feed to match die widths. A 600 mm coil can be fed directly into stamping lines for refrigerator side panels or washing machine top covers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Logistics efficiency<\/strong>: Narrower coils are easier to handle in warehouses with limited forklift clearance. A 600 mm wide coil at 0.6 mm thickness weighs approximately 2.83 kg per linear meter \u2014 manageable for manual positioning at smaller fabrication shops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Container loading optimization<\/strong>: 600 mm coils nest more compactly in 20-foot or 40-foot containers, allowing higher tonnage per shipment and reducing per-ton freight cost.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    4.3 Thickness Tolerance per JIS G3312<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    JIS G3312 sets the thickness tolerance for prepainted galvanized steel sheet. At 0.6 mm SGCC grade, the standard allows \u00b10.04 mm<\/strong> (for widths \u2264 600 mm). Our internal QC target is \u00b10.02 mm<\/strong> \u2014 half of that \u2014 because the customer’s downstream roll-forming lines need consistent feed to avoid jams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5.1 JIS G3312 Standard Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    JIS G3312 is the Japanese Industrial Standard for Pre-coated Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Sheet and Strip<\/strong>. It sits alongside ASTM A755 (US) and EN 10169 (European) as one of the three main standards for prepainted steel. In Middle East and Southeast Asian trade, it’s the one buyers actually ask for, partly because Japanese mills set the early quality benchmarks across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
