How long does it take for a customer to go from inquiry to signing a contract? Three months or six months? No, it took the Zimbabwean customer two and a half years to sign the contract. This was an inquiry assigned by the company’s e-commerce department to the business department in September 2021. Why did it take so long? Let’s briefly explain it below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project negotiation experience<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At first, the customer’s requirements were very high, but given the understanding of Zimbabwe, the customer would not need such high requirements, and it might be a fake inquiry. However, in a responsible manner, the business manager still quoted according to the customer’s requirements. After the quotation, this customer disappeared like most customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, our business manager followed up from time to time. Half a year later, the customer sent a very certain and clear product demand. After the quotation according to the customer’s requirements, the customer asked some questions about transportation and sent the PI header company information to request the production of PI, and informed that payment would be made, but the process took two months. The business manager guessed that the customer’s funds were not approved, and there was no follow-up reply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the routine follow-up in March 2024, it happened to be the customer’s procurement period, and the Minister of Finance after the change of government in Zimbabwe was a friend of the customer, so it was easier to apply for foreign exchange. So after the customer was satisfied with the quotation, the PI was directly produced, but the quantity was reduced from 3 cabinets to 1 cabinet, which was used as a trial order to check the product quality. It took more than a month from applying for foreign exchange to payment. The customer’s payment was not received until May, and the first cooperation with the customer was officially started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the customer took too long to pay, the global freight had risen after the product was completed, and the freight to Zimbabwe had risen a lot, so the customer needed to apply for foreign exchange. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the customer’s project and the signing of subsequent orders, we shipped the goods to the customer first to give the customer more time to apply for foreign exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
