What is “Zinc Free Flower” ?

Free Flower “usually refers to Zero Spangle in the galvanizing industry.

Spangle is a pattern formed by zinc crystals during the cooling process of hot-dip galvanizing, while zinc free galvanized sheets have almost no visible crystal patterns on the surface by controlling the composition of the zinc solution and cooling process.

Excellent corrosion resistance

DX51D+Z adopts hot-dip galvanizing process, and the zinc layer forms metallurgical bonding with the steel base, with strong adhesion. The zinc layer serves as a physical barrier to isolate moisture and oxygen, as well as a sacrificial anode that preferentially corrodes in the event of scratches or damage to the coating, protecting the underlying steel. Under the same weight of zinc layer, the corrosion resistance of zinc free galvanized sheet is better than that of zinc coated sheet, because the zinc layer of zinc free galvanized sheet is more uniform and less prone to grain boundary corrosion.

Good formability and processing performance

The low-carbon design and moderate strength range of DX51D+Z give it good plasticity and ductility (elongation ≥ 22%), making it suitable for conventional cold forming processes such as bending, stamping, and flanging.

Excellent welding and coating performance

DX51D+Z can perform common welding operations such as resistance welding and MAG/MIG welding. Attention should be paid to controlling parameters during welding to reduce zinc burning and prevent the formation of pores. The surface treated with passivation after plating is clean and has excellent adhesion to electrophoresis, powder spraying, and color coating. Therefore, DX51D+Z zinc free flower galvanized sheet is very suitable for use as a color coating substrate.
